An Evening on the Bay – 5″ x 5″ Watercolor on 140lb acid free paper
I was missing the open water and sailing today, as I was working on this piece. Don’t know when I will be able to get back on the water. Being stuck in the mountains over winter is a bit backwards. Maybe I will be able to spend next winter in Texas on my boat, and paint all season. Like this piece that may only be a dream.
Sunrise on the Windmill – 4″ x 6″ Watercolor on 140lb acid free paper
Another in a series of windmill paintings. This one is an early morning sunrise on the farm. The windmill and the water holding tank were done in watercolor pencils. The rest using traditional watercolors. The sky came out very interesting and was fun
On the Farm – 9″ x 12″ Watercolor on 140lb acid free paper
This composition proved to be very interesting. A windmill the farm in the distance, another windmill, a natural spring, tire tracks cutting through the field, and a barbed wire fence in the foreground. More features than I’m used to, but I had to give this one a try. Challenging myself has proved to be very rewarding with this painting. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did in creating it.
Yosemite Morning Mist – 9″ x 12″ Watercolor on 140lb acid free paper
The inspiration for this painting was to do a study of fog. This follows Early Morning on the River, and Early Retirement in capturing fog. This time I didn’t isolate myself to a single color, and the fog is still apparent.
Kickapoo – 9″ x 12″ Watercolor on 140lb acid free paper
A week in Illinois, and I just had to do this one. Another study on water, and reflections. This one had several challenges, but I like how it turned out. Peaceful, quiet, almost tranquil. I guess I’m back in the groove with this one today. Hope you enjoy
Early on the Water – 4″ x 6″ Watercolor on 90lb acid free paper
This is another variation of an earlier piece named Early Retirement. I kept to using only violets. I think this brought out the fog more and gives you a chilly feeling. I like the way the trees and water turned out. Much cleaner and more crisp.
Free Ranging Bison – 6″ x 9″ Watercolor on 140lb acid free paper
This is a picture of the South Park area just beyond Wilkerson Pass is one of my favorites. This was an interesting painting to create with the colors working in harmony and punctuated with the bison.
