Boat Study #2

This was another quick drawing of a sail boat out catching the wind. Perhaps a race with the other sails closing in on her, or is she leaving the pack and stretching for the finish. Maybe just a good run for a casual day on the water. I loved doing the spinaker on this one, as it is almost like a balloon stretching to its limits as the wind fills her.

Boat Study #1

Boat Study #1 – 11″ x 14″ Pencil on premium paper

This boat is out for an afternoon cruise. Cutting through the water, parting the waves and turning the whitecaps. The water was fun to illustrate the swells and lows, and preserve the white of the cutting wake. I can’t wait until I can get out on the water again and catch the wind.

An Evening on the Bay

I was missing the open water and sailing today, as I was working on this piece. Don’t know when I will be able to get back on the water. Being stuck in the mountains over winter is a bit backwards. Maybe I will be able to spend next winter in Texas on my boat, and paint all season. Like this piece that may only be a dream.
