Boat Study #1

Boat Study #1 – 11″ x 14″ Pencil on premium paper

This boat is out for an afternoon cruise. Cutting through the water, parting the waves and turning the whitecaps. The water was fun to illustrate the swells and lows, and preserve the white of the cutting wake. I can’t wait until I can get out on the water again and catch the wind.

Now a drawing of warmer climates. The art of boat building and boat repair. A fine craftsmen making repairs to his boat. This was another fun one to draw, and had several challenges. Hope you enjoy.

An Evening on the Bay

An Evening on the Bay – 5″ x 5″ Watercolor on 140lb acid free paper

I was missing the open water and sailing today, as I was working on this piece. Don’t know when I will be able to get back on the water. Being stuck in the mountains over winter is a bit backwards. Maybe I will be able to spend next winter in Texas on my boat, and paint all season. Like this piece that may only be a dream.
